Install the extension

Install PassHex from the Chrome Web Store, Firefox Add-ons, or Edge Add-ons. Once installed, the PassHex icon will appear in your browser toolbar.

Generate your API token

Log in to your PassHex account at passhex.com, go to My Account, scroll to the Browser Extension section, and click Generate Token. Copy the token shown.

Configure the extension

Click the PassHex icon in your toolbar. Enter https://passhex.com as the server URL and paste your API token. Click Save.

Unlock your vault

After saving, you'll be prompted to enter your master password to unlock the vault. This is the password you use to log in to PassHex. Your vault is decrypted locally — it never leaves your device.

Auto-fill on any site

Visit any site where you have saved credentials. You'll see a small cyan key icon inside the password field. Click it to see matching entries and auto-fill your username and password instantly.

Troubleshooting
The key icon isn't appearing on password fields.
Make sure your vault is unlocked — click the PassHex toolbar icon and enter your master password. The key icon only appears when the vault is unlocked. If it still doesn't appear, try refreshing the page after unlocking.
I get "Invalid API token" when unlocking.
Your token may have been revoked. Go to passhex.com/account, scroll to Browser Extension, revoke the old token, generate a new one, and re-enter it in the extension popup.
The popup says "Extension not configured."
Open the extension popup and make sure both the Server URL (https://passhex.com) and your API token are saved. Click Save after entering them.
No matches show for a site I have saved.
PassHex matches credentials by domain. Make sure the URL saved in your vault entry matches the domain you're visiting (e.g. https://example.com). Subdomains are matched automatically.
My vault unlocks but shows 0 items.
Your vault may be empty. Log in to passhex.com/vault and add some credentials. Changes sync to the extension the next time you unlock.
Auto-fill doesn't work on a specific site.
Some sites use custom-built login forms that block programmatic input. Try clicking the key icon dropdown and selecting your credential — or copy and paste directly from the vault at passhex.com/vault.
I forgot my master password.
PassHex uses zero-knowledge encryption — your master password is never stored and cannot be recovered. If you have forgotten it, your vault contents cannot be retrieved. You can reset your account password from the login page, but this will not decrypt an existing vault.
My subscription is active but I can't access the dashboard.
Log out and log back in to refresh your session. If the issue persists, contact support with the email address on your account.
